Tehran: Expressing deep regret over the British government's decision to impose fresh sanctions on the Iranian people, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London condemned the move as illegal and contrary to the two nations' shared interests, warning that London's alignment with the US policy of economic terrorism would further heighten the wall of mistrust between the two countries.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran declared that such illegal sanctions run counter to the shared interests of Iran and the UK. The statement added that aligning with the US's unjust policy of imposing economic terrorism against Iran will yield no result other than heightening the wall of mistrust between the two nations and undermining the foundations of bilateral cooperation.
Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic has always adhered to international law, the Iranian embassy added that Iran's nuclear program is under the full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The diplomatic mission also advised the British government to condemn the acts of aggression committed against Iran by the child-killing regimes of the US and Israel, rather than adopting misguided and counterproductive approaches.
The statement further specifies that this act of aggression constitutes a clear violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Iranian embassy's reaction came after the British government announced an expansion of unilateral sanctions against Tehran, reiterating political allegations regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear program and regional activities.
