Iran Dismisses Speculations About Diplomatic Talks with Qatar

New York:Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has labeled as 'baseless speculations' recent media reports about Iran's diplomatic consultation with a Qatari mediator.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei clarified that reports regarding Iran-US negotiations were speculative and lacked any factual basis. He confirmed that a meeting occurred on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly between Iranian and Qatari delegations, where they received the mediator's views and assessments and discussed the latest regional developments.

Baqaei emphasized that Iran communicated its observations to the Qatari counterpart, reiterating its commitment to defending national interests against excessive demands or aggression while participating in diplomatic processes with good faith.

Last week, Iran conveyed its conditions for resuming diplomacy with the United States through indirect messages via the Qatari mediator. The conditions included ceasing US acts of aggression, ending the war on all fronts, releasing frozen assets, and agreeing to safe shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, as previously agreed with Oman.
