Iran-India Cooperation Aims to Enhance Bilateral and Regional Peace

Tehran:Expanding cooperation between Iran and India is seen as beneficial for both countries and regional peace, according to President Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian made these remarks during a meeting with the new Indian Ambassador to Tehran, Vishwesh Negi, who presented his credentials. Pezeshkian highlighted the deep-rooted and friendly relations between Iran and India and stressed the importance of implementing agreements made during his recent visit to India for the BRICS summit.

During his visit, extensive and constructive discussions were held, leading to significant understandings that Pezeshkian emphasized should be implemented promptly. These understandings focused on economic cooperation and strengthening multilateralism within the BRICS framework.

Pezeshkian also noted the Indian prime minister's emphasis on convening a meeting of the Iran-India Joint Economic Commission soon. This meeting aims to explore expanding trade, economic, and financial cooperation. He suggested that through this commission, the two countries could establish a roadmap for long-term cooperation and mechanisms to fully utilize their bilateral ties.

He further underscored the importance of enhancing Iran-India relations on bilateral and regional levels, asserting that stronger ties would benefit both nations and contribute to regional peace and security. Pezeshkian highlighted the role of diplomatic missions in facilitating agreements and activating new cooperation areas.

Ambassador Negi expressed optimism about opening a new chapter in Tehran-New Delhi relations during his tenure. He conveyed confidence that his mission would help boost trade ties and realize the potential in economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
