Tehran:Iran's Foreign Ministry has formally protested Norway's lack of action regarding unauthorized Starlink activities within Iranian territory, summoning the Norwegian ambassador in Tehran.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammad Hassannejad Pirkouhi, director general for international peace and security at the Foreign Ministry, met with Paal Andre Bjørnestad, Norway's ambassador, to express Iran's concerns. During the meeting, Hassannejad detailed how the United States and Israel are allegedly using satellite internet systems to further interventionist and divisive agendas in Iran.
The Iranian diplomat criticized Norway for not meeting its obligations as a co-responsible country for Starlink's registration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Recent decisions by the ITU's Radio Regulations Board reportedly require the Norwegian government to prevent unauthorized Starlink transmissions in Iran. Despite Iran's repeated follow-ups, Norway has taken no effective action so far.
Hassannejad delivered a formal note of protest to the Norwegian envoy, urging the Norwegian government to take immediate and effective measures to stop Starlink activities that Iran claims violate its sovereignty and security.
