Iran to Keep Strait of Hormuz Closed Until Demands Are Met

Tehran:Iran will maintain the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until seven conditions outlined in the Islamabad memorandum are fulfilled, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced. He emphasized that Iran's security policy is not swayed by statements or tweets from US officials.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf mentioned that the United States had communicated proposals through intermediaries. However, Iran insists that the strait will remain closed until the specified conditions are met.

Ghalibaf accused Washington of creating conflicting messages to confuse Iranian public opinion and hinder decision-making. He emphasized that Iran's actions would be based on the actual conduct of its adversaries rather than media rhetoric.

He further stated that Iran would continue to focus on military readiness while engaging in diplomacy, underscoring that negotiations must be backed by strength.

Ghalibaf also commented on regional developments, marking the October 7 events as a pivotal moment and claiming that the Israeli security doctrine had experienced an irreversible breakdown. He argued that the Israeli regime's portrayal as a victim and its claims of absolute deterrence had been challenged and that it was now engaged in a protracted conflict. Despite US support, he claimed that the Israeli regime's security foundation could not be restored through military means.

In addition, Ghalibaf congratulated Iran's police forces and advocated for better equipment, technology, and personnel welfare, which he noted as a parliamentary priority.

He also praised Iran's success in the Asian Games, where the national squad won 52 medals in Nagoya, highlighting particularly the historic achievement of Iranian women who secured three gold medals.
