Iran: Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has announced the discovery of major new hydrocarbon reserves, highlighting the significance of these finds for Iran's future energy needs.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the announcement was made during a ceremony held on Sunday, commemorating the renewal of allegiance to the ideals of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Imam Khomeini, as part of Government Week celebrations. The newly discovered reserves are located in the southern Fars province, with more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas identified, and approximately 5.7 trillion cubic feet deemed recoverable.

In addressing concerns about economic sanctions and pressure from the United States, Paknejad dismissed the fears of an illegal blockade. He emphasized the significance of the new hydrocarbon discovery, stating that further details would be disclosed at a later date. Paknejad expressed optimism about the development, attributing the discovery to the relentless efforts of Iran's energy sector professionals.

The announcement is particularly noteworthy as Iran continues to navigate extensive economic sanctions that have impacted crucial sectors, including the oil industry and access to international markets.
