Tehran:Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on European nations to denounce what he describes as military aggression against Iran. He emphasized that Tehran is committed to defending its national sovereignty and territorial integrity against any threats or attacks.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi made these remarks during a meeting with Poland's Undersecretary of State of Foreign Affairs, Wojciech Zajaczkowski, in Tehran. The meeting occurred on Wednesday evening as part of the third round of political consultations between Iran and Poland.
During the discussion, Araghchi criticized certain European countries for either supporting or failing to respond to the military aggression against Iran. He stressed that all nations, including European governments, should adopt a principled stance against the aggression and the associated crimes.
Araghchi reiterated Iran's commitment to diplomacy in promoting regional peace and security but warned that Iran would defend itself against threats and renewed aggression. He attributed the region's insecurity, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, to aggressive actions by the United States and Israel.
Highlighting the historical ties between Iran and Poland, Araghchi underscored the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit. He also mentioned his previous meeting with his Polish counterpart at the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.
Zajaczkowski provided Araghchi with an update on his discussions with Iranian officials and shared Poland's perspectives on regional and international developments.
