Iranian Cinema Captivates Audiences in Rome with Film Showcase

Rome:Iranian cinema gained attention in the Italian capital with a three-day program featuring a selection of 10 films. Audiences were treated to feature films, shorts, and documentaries during the event, which drew both filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian Cinema Days festival took place from September 30 to October 2 at Rome's Cinema House. The event highlighted a diverse array of genres, with films presented with subtitles. Two directors participated in the festival, engaging in post-screening discussions with attendees.

The festival opened with the short film "Umbrella," followed by screenings of "Orange Forest" and "Natour Dasht (Guardian of the Field)." The second day showcased the documentary "Isatis," which explores the history and culture of Yazd, along with the shorts "Narrator" and "Captain Torres," and concluded with "God of War."

On the final day, the festival moved to the main hall of Cinecitt , where "Billboard" had its world premiere. The event continued with the social short "Clavier" and concluded with "Raha," a film previously recognized at the Rome Film Festival.

The schedule indicates that several films will also be screened in other Italian cities soon, with directors present. The program included meetings with Italian film distribution companies, aiming to showcase Iranian cinema's potential and foster collaboration with distributors, television networks, and Iranian filmmakers.

The cultural affairs section of Iran's embassy in Italy stated that one of the festival's objectives was to strengthen ties between Iranian cinema and Italy's film distribution and exhibition network.
