Tehran: The Iranian government spokesperson has advised the US President-elect Donald Trump to avoid any measure that may violate the rights of Iranians. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Fatemeh Mohajerani urged Trump to avoid any wrong path that violates the rights of the Iranian people. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohajerani emphasized the country's commitment to protecting its national interests and upholding the ideals of the Islamic Revolution. She highlighted that Iran would take appropriate measures under the guidance of the Supreme Leader and decisions of the Supreme National Security Council to safeguard these interests. Mohajerani pointed out that Trump's election is an internal matter of the US. She reminded that Iran had negotiated with the P5+1 countries-comprising the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany-and reached a nuclear agreement, but it was the US that withdrew from the accord, not Iran. She further criticized the US's maximum pr essure policy, stating that it did not prevent Iran from overcoming numerous challenges. Despite the US's claims that Iran would not survive to see its 40th anniversary, the Iranian people emerged victorious, she asserted. When questioned by a Wall Street Journal reporter about Iran's response should Trump continue the maximum pressure approach, Mohajerani remarked that the policy had already failed, even amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran.
