Iranian Official Criticizes Trump’s Social Media Influence on Strait of Hormuz

Tehran:Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad has dismissed the idea that US President Donald Trump's social media posts have any impact on the status of the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the condition of the strait is more influenced by fuel price displays in the United States than by what he termed as Trump's 'empty' posts.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, Nikzad addressed an open session of parliament, asserting that the United States has failed to overcome the determination and faith of the Iranian nation. He claimed that the US is using media campaigns and threats to avoid facing the reality of the situation.

Nikzad emphasized that real outcomes are determined by actions on the battlefield rather than rhetoric. He stated that the Iranian people decided long ago to live independently and have steadfastly adhered to that decision. He urged US leaders to acknowledge this reality and respect the will of the Iranian nation.

He also argued that Trump's threats are primarily aimed at influencing domestic politics and the US elections, suggesting they hold no substantial ground value. Nikzad warned that Iran is prepared to respond firmly to any new acts of adventurism.

Additionally, Nikzad criticized the US invasion of Iraq, claiming that Washington intended to make Iraq the '51st US state' but eventually withdrew after enduring significant losses. He encouraged neighboring countries to foster their historical and religious ties with Iran, independent of external threats.

Nikzad highlighted the importance of regional cooperation for achieving lasting security and economic prosperity in West Asia. He cautioned against relying on foreign powers, who he claimed offer false promises without delivering tangible benefits. His remarks come amidst increased US military activity in West Asia and hostile rhetoric from American officials against Iran.

Tehran has consistently warned that US bases and naval assets in the region will be targeted if there is any renewed aggression against Iranian territory.
