Iranian President Urges Collective Effort to Uphold Consumer Rights

Tunis:Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of shared responsibility among the government, manufacturers, and citizens in protecting consumer rights and enhancing product quality. He called for stronger standards to bolster efficiency, public trust, and sustainable development.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian, in a message for World Standards Day and Standards Week, highlighted that standards should be integrated into all facets of life. They should serve as a foundation for evaluating the quality of decisions, performance, and services. Standards, he noted, cover a broad spectrum beyond technical production and product quality, extending to social relations, public health and safety, service delivery, efficiency, and the equitable use of national resources.

In the realms of production and the economy, adherence to standards reflects respect for consumer rights and a manufacturer's commitment to quality. Pezeshkian stressed that consumers deserve assurance in the safety and quality of goods and services, while producers require transparent, fair, and reliable regulations.

He added that effective supervision, ongoing assessment, and widespread implementation of standards could improve Iranian products, increase their competitive edge, and enhance the country's prestige in international markets. Pezeshkian pointed out that current imbalances and inefficiencies stem from inadequate standards, vague benchmarks, and improper consumption and resource allocation. Addressing these issues demands changes in decision-making, more efficient consumption, reduced waste, and heightened productivity.

The president also remarked that robust standards could enhance equipment and services, support improved energy management and clean energy development, conserve national resources, and safeguard future generations' interests. He urged the National Standards Organization to leverage the country's scientific expertise, improve intergovernmental coordination, and enhance oversight. He advocated for clear, measurable plans that deliver tangible and enduring improvements.

Pezeshkian expressed optimism that improved quality and competitiveness would allow Iranian products to secure a stronger foothold in global markets.
