Iranian, Swiss Foreign Ministers Discuss Progress in Indirect Nuclear Negotiations

Geneva: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States. This meeting followed Araghchi's participation in the second round of these talks and his address at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the two ministers exchanged views on the current negotiation process, which is focused on lifting sanctions, and evaluated recent diplomatic efforts. Cassis had previously met with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, acknowledging Oman's important role in facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington.

Following the Geneva talks, Araghchi informed reporters that the latest discussions were more substantive than earlier sessions and that more definitive decisions had been made concerning future steps. He also highlighted productive technical discussions with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Araghchi mentioned that a general understanding was reached on guiding principles, which will serve as the foundation for drafting a potential agreement, although significant work is still needed. Both sides have agreed to exchange draft texts before setting a date for the next round of discussions.
