Pezeshkian Calls for Stronger Tehran-Tokyo Ties in Message Marking Japan’s National Day

Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized the need to deepen historical and friendly relations between Tehran and Tokyo and to expand bilateral and international cooperation. Pezeshkian, in a message to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, congratulated the government and people of Japan on the country's national day and stressed the importance of strengthening longstanding ties between the two nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, expressing satisfaction with the long-lasting relations between Iran and Japan, the president voiced hope that during the second term of the Japanese prime minister's government, 'practical and effective steps' would be taken to consolidate and develop cooperation across various fields.

Referring to the principled approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran's foreign policy based on promoting regional and international peace and security, Pezeshkian welcomed Japan's responsible role on the global stage.

The president stated, 'Japan, relying on a dialogue-based approach, can play an effective role in reducing tensions, strengthening stability and promoting diplomatic solutions in the West Asia region, based on the principles of dialogue, cooperation, equality and mutual respect.'

He also wished the prime minister, government and people of Japan continued prosperity and success.
