Tehran: Iran's First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref declared that the nation's defensive and security capabilities are firmly rooted in scientific and technological progress. He emphasized that Iran does not seek external approval to advance its technological capabilities, but it is willing to share its achievements with allied nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref made these remarks during a meeting of the Technology Development and Artificial Intelligence Headquarters. He revealed that the Iranian government aims to position Iran among the top ten countries globally in artificial intelligence. Aref stressed the importance of not only developing AI technology but also implementing it effectively across various institutions, with continuous monitoring to ensure adherence to relevant plans and documents.

Aref commended the efforts of Iranian scientists and technology experts, highlighting that the country's scientific achievements have surpassed expectations and addressed national needs swiftly, especially in the last two years following the 12-day war. He also discussed the government's commitment to overcoming shortcomings in the Vision Document and achieving the objectives outlined in the Second Step of the Revolution declaration related to science and technology. Aref acknowledged the strategic foresight of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution in promoting this sector over the past four decades.

In his address, Aref urged neighboring countries to ensure that their territories are not used against Iran. The meeting wrapped up with a review of the Technology and AI Headquarters secretariat's progress report and AI development roadmaps for the oil and energy ministries. Plans are set to be formally issued after necessary revisions.

Aref reiterated the importance of not only developing AI technology but of taking substantial steps to apply it practically, with ongoing oversight to gauge institutional success in meeting their objectives.
