Tunis:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized the critical importance of holding adversaries accountable for military actions that harm the environment.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi addressed this issue during his participation in the first international conference titled 'Ecocide The Silent War Crime.' In an Instagram post, he highlighted the impact of environmental devastation resulting from warfare, describing it as a silent crime with effects that reach far beyond the immediate conflict zones.
He specifically pointed to the military actions by the US and Israel against Iran, which have targeted the nation's oil and energy infrastructure. These attacks, he warned, pose significant environmental threats that could endanger human health, deplete natural resources, and jeopardize the right of future generations to a healthy environment.
Araghchi reiterated the need to defend the environment from such military aggressions and stressed the importance of holding those responsible to account, declaring, "We will neither forgive nor forget!"
