Geneva: Iran's Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi, and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, have engaged in discussions regarding the damage inflicted on humanitarian and medical facilities during the recent US-Israeli imposed conflict on Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. The talks primarily focused on the humanitarian impacts resulting from the US-Israeli aggression against Iran. Zafarghandi highlighted the significant civilian casualties and emphasized that Health Ministry officials, alongside other relief forces such as the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), emergency services, and the fire department, were active on the ground from the initial hours of the conflict to provide necessary assistance.

Zafarghandi expressed gratitude towards the ICRC for its position during the conflict, as well as its ongoing humanitarian collaboration with Iranian agencies. Egger, reflecting on her recent visit to Tehran, mentioned productive discussions with Iranian officials. She highlighted that the Red Cross managed to dispatch multiple aid shipments to Iran and expressed readiness to cater to urgent needs.

Egger also commended the extensive capabilities of the IRCS and the Ministry of Health, acknowledging their exceptional operational strengths. She noted that the ICRC is actively seeking to secure financial resources and engage with international donors to further support Iran's humanitarian needs.
