Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who has traveled to Baghdad, was received by his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed al-Halbousi. The meeting took place as part of Ghalibaf's official visit to Iraq, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iraq's Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi welcomed Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and the accompanying parliamentary delegation. The meeting on Wednesday marked the beginning of Ghalibaf's itinerary in Iraq, highlighting the importance of the diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
After being welcomed by Iraqi officials, Ghalibaf made a significant visit to the site of the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis at Baghdad Airport. At the site, Ghalibaf expressed that he was starting his trip from the location where two notable figures from Iran and Iraq were martyred, emphasizing their roles in regional security.
Ghalibaf noted that these prominent figures had played a crucial role in saving Iraq, Iran, and the entire region from the threat of ISIS. He referenced a statement by the current US president, Donald Trump, suggesting that the group was created by Washington. Despite the assassination, Ghalibaf asserted that the power and influence of the resistance continue unabated, and the ongoing situation in the region demonstrates who is emerging victorious.
