Gharibabadi Stresses Foreign Interference Violates Sovereignty

Tehran: Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi says that foreign interference in the destiny of nations is an assault on their sovereign rights.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, on the anniversary of the US-led coup in Iran on August 19, 1953, during which democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq was toppled, Gharibabadi wrote on X that the event marked direct intervention by the US and the UK in the will of the Iranian people and their right to determine their own future, stressing that such interference is a form of colonialism and a violation of national sovereignty.

This chapter of history can neither be whitewashed nor forgotten, he added.

Gharibabadi emphasized that although generations may pass, one truth remains unchanged - any country that hands its destiny over to foreigners will pay a heavy price.

He noted that today's Iran determines its own future, with the nation refusing to retreat under pressure and standing firmer in the face of compulsion and threats.
