Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has marked the anniversary of the takeover of the US embassy in Tehran by revolutionary students on November 4, 1979, describing the day as a lasting symbol of the Iranian nation’s resistance against global arrogance and US domination.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC stated that the documents from the US embassy, which they referred to as the “den of espionage,” revealed that the American embassy in Tehran functioned more as a CIA station with intelligence and operational missions than as a traditional diplomatic mission.

The IRGC emphasized that the takeover represented a strategic choice between two paths: one of resistance, dignity, and independence, and the other of compromise, submission, and surrender. The statement highlighted how US diplomacy allegedly served as a cover for infiltration, deception, subversion, and intelligence gathering to strike strategically.

The IRGC further added that Washington’s ongoing ‘pattern of intervention, pressure, deception, and threats’ toward Iran demonstrates that the enmity between Iran and the US is not merely a misunderstanding, but rather a structural conflict of interests. This conflict is rooted in historical events, starting with the US-backed 1953 coup in Iran, continuing through the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and persisting over the subsequent 47 years.
