Tehran: Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), has criticized Washington's portrayal of an alleged rescue of an American pilot in Iran, labeling the narrative as 'just fictional.'

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohebbi expressed skepticism over the American media's account of the pilot's rescue in April during a joint US-Israeli military operation. He likened the story, which was featured on CBS News's 60 Minutes, to a Hollywood script, suggesting it was an attempt to fabricate success from a failed mission in Iran.

Mohebbi highlighted the implausibility of the pilot's account, which claimed survival after an F-15 jet crash in central Iran. The pilot allegedly survived a high-speed fall without a functioning parachute, landing in mountainous terrain. Mohebbi dismissed this story as unbelievable and indicative of the US's tendency to create fictional success stories in foreign conflicts.

He further noted the US government's need to manufacture achievements from its unsuccessful aggression in Iran, attributing this to pressure from allies and domestic political factions. Mohebbi concluded that such narratives only serve to embarrass the US and invite ridicule.
