IRNA Chief Tours Bombing Sites in Iran’s Lamerd

Lamerd:Hossein Jaberi-Ansari, the CEO of the Islamic Republic News Agency, visited areas in Lamerd, located in Iran's southern Fars Province, that were recently damaged by US-Israeli airstrikes.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Jaberi-Ansari arrived in Lamerd on Tuesday morning, where he paid tribute to the martyrs of the 'Ramadan War' at the central cemetery before inspecting the bombed locations. He was joined by Seyyed Mousa Mousavi, the parliamentary representative for Mehr and Lamerd, Ali Alizadeh, the governor of Lamerd, and other local officials.

The airstrikes, part of the second US-Israeli-imposed war that began on February 28, targeted four sites in Lamerd, including a sports hall, two residential areas, and a hall near a school. These attacks resulted in 21 fatalities and injured over 100 people, many of whom were women and children. Four missiles were used, releasing 720,000 tungsten pellets, which experts describe as weapons aimed at causing mass casualties. The strikes have been widely condemned internationally.

During his visit, the IRNA CEO also planned to meet with the families of the martyrs, visit war-affected areas in Larestan, attend the Lar Administrative Council meeting, visit the Shiraz International Expo, participate in the Fars Information Council, and meet with journalists and veteran IRNA staff.
