Judiciary Chief Lauds Mohsen Rezaei’s Appointment as Top Security Official

Tehran: Iran's Judiciary Chief, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, in a congratulatory message to Mohsen Rezaei on his appointment as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), says serving the nation and protecting its sovereignty is an objective obligation.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, while wishing Rezaei success, Mohseni-Ejei highlighted the enemy plots, stating that the forces of infidelity and arrogance are desperately seeking to divide Iran and weaken its Islamic establishment through imposed and aggressive approaches. He emphasized that resistance against these conspiracies can only be achieved by those who, with firm faith and under the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, consider themselves soldiers in this arena.

The head of the Judiciary commended Rezaei for his lifelong service to the nation, relying on his valuable experiences in various fields and benefiting from revolutionary teachings. He added that now, with the approval of the Leader, Rezaei is at the forefront of protecting national interests and confronting threats in the era of enemy combined warfare.

Mohseni-Ejei also expressed appreciation for the efforts and services of Mohammad-Bagher Zolghadr as SNSC chief since March, following the assassination of former secretary Ali Larijani in a US-Israeli airstrike.

On Saturday evening, President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Rezaei as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, following Zolghadr's resignation from the post and subsequent appointment as the political advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei. The presidential announcement came shortly after the Leader named Rezaei as his representative to the SNSC, citing his 'valuable experience' and role as 'one of the pioneers of the eight-year Sacred Defense'-the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s.
