Beirut: The martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, played a central role in shaping the concept of resistance into a political and strategic model that extended beyond national and regional borders, says the secretary-general of Lebanon's Eastern Christian Union.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Elias al-Murr stated that Ayatollah Khamenei was one of the most prominent figures who participated in formulating the model of resistance as a political and strategic plan beyond domestic and regional borders, while consistently emphasizing strategic independence. Al-Murr highlighted that regional experts regard the martyred Leader's focus on strategic independence and opposition to foreign domination as one of his defining characteristics.
He added that based on this approach, Ayatollah Khamenei sought to expand the concept of strategic depth by building a network of alliances and allied forces across the region, particularly in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Palestine. The Lebanese Christian figure also noted that the martyred Iranian Leader relied on an approach rooted in what political science literature describes as 'strategic patience.'
Ayatollah Khamenei was assassinated in US-Israeli air raids on February 28, when the two regimes initiated a war of aggression against Iran that killed thousands of Iranian civilians.
