Iran: Iran's ambassador to Germany has described the US-Israeli assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as an unforgettable crime, saying his intellectual and political legacy will continue to inspire future generations worldwide.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a letter addressed to 'free-thinking Germans' and released as Iran held farewell ceremonies for the martyred Leader, Majid Nili Ahmadabadi said that at least for a significant number of 'truth-seeking and free-thinking Germans,' Ayatollah Khamenei's assassination was a 'significant, thought-provoking, and unforgettable crime.'

'At first glance, the death or loss of a foreign political figure may seem like an ordinary matter for the citizens of another country,' he wrote. 'However, the late and martyred Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, is an exception to this rule.'

The ambassador said Iran was deeply saddened by the loss of its martyred Leader but remained determined to continue along his path and took pride in having had 'such a cultured, scholarly, and far-sighted Leader.'

He noted that the missile attack on the leader of a country constituted 'a clear violation of the fundamental principles of international law, international custom, and humanitarian law,' adding that the military aggression and martyrdom of Iran's Leader 'is a crime that must not be ignored from either a legal or moral perspective.'

On Saturday and Sunday, vast crowds of Iranians amassed for the start of the public funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei, who was assassinated at the start of the unprovoked US-Israeli war against Iran on February 28.
