TEHRAN: Iran's ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq, asserted that the future of the Middle East will be shaped by the desires of its people rather than the goals of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This statement was made during a ceremony commemorating the fifth anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani's assassination.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Al-e Sadeq highlighted the collective desire of the region's populace for the eradication of the Zionist regime. He described any form of compromise with Israel as a strategic blunder and a betrayal of the Palestinian cause. The ambassador reiterated Iran's dedication to fostering peace and security across the region, with a particular focus on neighboring states.
Al-e Sadeq underscored Iran's belief in peace and security for Syria, advocating for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He called for an end to Zionist occupation, which he views as essential for the establishment of an inclusive government representing all Syrian factions and citizens. The commemoration ceremony also served as a reminder of General Soleimani's death in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020, an event that heightened tensions between Iran and the United States.
