Najaf: Officials in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf have announced the full readiness to host the funeral procession of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Yousef Makki Kanawi, the governor and head of the local government in Najaf, stated on Monday that all security, logistical, and support preparations for Ayatollah Khamenei's funeral have been completed. The ceremony will consist of both official and public segments. The official segment, set to take place at Najaf International Airport on Tuesday, will be attended by the heads of Iraq's executive, legislative, and judicial branches, leaders of various political factions, lawmakers, and other officials. Governor Kanawi emphasized that a delegation comprising representatives from the Prime Minister's Office, the Joint Operations Command, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the Iranian Ambassador has visited the holy city for this purpose. The public procession is schedule d to commence at 6:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday, starting from the Sadr Hospital Bridge on Airport Street. It will pass through the city's old quarter and conclude at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS). More than one hundred temporary service stations, known as Mawkibs, have been established along the funeral procession routes to assist mourners and provide necessary services. Haidar Kaboun, director of the Rituals and Mass Pilgrimages Department at the Najaf provincial administration, announced that mawkibs have begun welcoming participants arriving from both within and outside Iraq for the event. He noted that a specialized committee held its third meeting to review preparations, focusing on meeting all service and logistical requirements to ensure a smooth funeral procession and offer the best possible services to mourners. Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei's final resting place will be at the shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH) in the Iranian holy city of Mashhad on Thursday. This will follow funeral ceremonies in Tehr an and Qom on Monday and Tuesday, as well as in the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday.
