Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has refuted reports regarding Iran inviting inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Speaking to reporters, Baqaei denied media reports claiming that Iran had invited the IAEA to inspect its nuclear facilities.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, paragraph 8 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the US outlines that negotiations on the nuclear issue will occur within a 60-day timeframe, contingent upon the fulfillment of prerequisites for the start of negotiations as stipulated in paragraph 13 of the document. During this period, paragraph 9 of the MoU specifies that the current status of Iran's nuclear program will be maintained.
Baqaei further clarified that ongoing inspections of facilities like Bushehr will continue. However, inspections of facilities where IAEA access had been halted due to US-Israeli attacks will be subject to the negotiation process and its outcome.
