Islamabad: Pakistan has received Iran's response to the latest US proposal to end the ongoing war, reaffirming its commitment to continue sincere efforts toward achieving lasting peace, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Prime Minister Sharif spoke at a ceremony commemorating the martyrs of Operation Bunyan Marsoos. This event marked the first anniversary of Pakistan's four-day conflict with India last year. In his speech, Sharif emphasized Islamabad's genuine endeavors to facilitate peace. He highlighted the importance of the first round of US-Iran talks held in Islamabad and Pakistan's pivotal role in brokering a temporary ceasefire. "We are passionately and resolutely striving to establish peace in our neighborhood and to contribute to sustainable security in the region and the world," he stated.

Sharif further confirmed that Army Commander Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had verified earlier that day that Pakistan had indeed received Iran's response. This development follows reports from IRNA that Tehran submitted its response to the latest US proposal on Sunday through Pakistani mediators. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously indicated that Tehran's views and considerations regarding the US proposals would be shared after comprehensive internal reviews and the completion of final conclusions.
