Pakistan’s Continued Diplomatic Efforts to End US-Israeli Conflict Against Iran

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has affirmed his country's ongoing commitment to facilitating a lasting peace in the region, specifically aiming to mediate an end to the US-Israeli conflict against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sharif highlighted Pakistan's diplomatic endeavors during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, emphasizing that these efforts will persist unabated. He recounted a recent phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, wherein Araghchi expressed his dedication to constructive dialogue during his visits to neighboring countries. The Iranian minister intends to disclose his perspectives following internal discussions.

Islamabad previously played a pivotal role in brokering a ceasefire between Iran and the US on April 8. It subsequently hosted talks to negotiate a permanent resolution to the conflict. Despite the extensive 21-hour discussions, the talks concluded without a resolution. Iranian representatives attributed the impasse to what they described as excessive US demands and a prevailing mistrust of US intentions.
