Pakistan’s Deputy PM Highlights Significance of Relations with Iran

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, emphasized the importance of ‘brotherly’ relations with Iran during a meeting with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. This official meeting marked Larijani’s first visit to Pakistan in his new capacity.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Dar welcomed Larijani and his delegation at the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, kicking off Larijani’s diplomatic engagements in the country. In his opening remarks, Dar congratulated Larijani on his recent appointment and highlighted the significance of the ties between Iran and Pakistan.

Dar also mentioned his recent interactions with Iran’s foreign minister and other senior officials, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation. Larijani’s schedule includes meetings with Pakistan’s parliament speaker, prime minister, and president later in the day.

Upon his arrival in Islamabad on Monday night, Larijani spoke to reporters, acknowledging Pakistan’s pivotal role in the region. He stressed that cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad across various fields contributes to regional peace and stability. His discussions with Pakistani officials will cover bilateral relations, joint agreements, regional and international issues, and topics of importance to the Islamic world.
