Tehran:The Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has concluded its assessment of a strategic bill designed to enhance security in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as to promote sustainable development in this crucial waterway and the Persian Gulf.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the commission's spokesperson, Hassan Qashqavi, announced the completion of their review on Sunday. The commission approved the remaining segments of the bill, notably Article 16. This article specifies that upon enactment, the Strait of Hormuz will be governed by the new legislation, superseding any conflicting laws and regulations.

With the approval of Article 16, the commission has now finished its examination of the bill. However, the legislation still requires approval from the full parliament before it can be forwarded to the Guardian Council for final approval.
