Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran does not seek war but will respond firmly to any aggression. “We are not after war, and we’ve said that from day one, but we’re not afraid of war either,” Pezeshkian stated in a meeting with three prominent media and political figures.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the meeting with Seyyed Mohammad Ali Abtahi, Abdollah Ganji, and Alireza Moezi, Pezeshkian expressed his administration’s firm opposition to the activation of snapback sanctions under the 2018 nuclear agreement. “We do not want snapback at all,” he said, questioning the legitimacy of accusations from European countries regarding compliance with international laws.

Pezeshkian emphasized that internal discord posed a greater threat than external pressures. “My fear is not from snapback or external threats. My main concern is domestic rifts, the divisions that sometimes emerge over minor issues. The enemy’s greed lies exactly in these differences,” he noted.

The president highlighted the significance of justice, fairness, and respect for citizens’ rights in maintaining national unity. He argued that a society grounded in honesty and fairness could deter external threats, even in the absence of advanced military capabilities.

Pezeshkian also outlined his administration’s plans to tackle corruption by implementing new mechanisms that link tax, land, and cadastral and property codes, aiming to enhance transparency across the nation.
