Scientific, Technological Cooperation Key to Iran-Iraq Strategic Ties: Minister

Tehran: Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Sattar Hashemi, has emphasized Iran's readiness to share expertise in electronic health, space technology, and communications research, calling scientific and technological cooperation the cornerstone for broader strategic ties between Tehran and Baghdad.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hashemi met with Abdul Hussein al-Moussawi, the Iraqi Health Minister and the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to discuss enhancing scientific and technological cooperation as a top priority for the two countries. The meeting emphasized the deep historical and cultural bonds between the nations, considering these commonalities a suitable platform for expanding interactions in new fields of knowledge and technology.

Hashemi highlighted Iran's capabilities and advancements in the space industry, noting significant progress in telecommunications and remote sensing satellites. He expressed Iran's preparedness to enhance these capabilities through joint cooperation with Iraq. Key areas of collaboration include the establishment of a joint research and development center, cooperation in satellite imagery, development of ground stations, and expansion of cooperation in the space industry.

Al-Moussawi, on his part, emphasized the importance of Iran's experiences in health, education, and technology. He highlighted the Iraqi government's commitment to fostering and enhancing scientific and technological relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
