Tehran: Tehran expects Iraq to prevent any misuse of its territory against Iran's security, as stated by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two nations to ensure a secure future for their bilateral relations, particularly in the realm of security.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei mentioned in his weekly press conference that both Iran and Iraq recognize the threats to their shared borders. He highlighted that Iranian officials have consistently received commitments from the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region to thwart any attempts by terrorist groups and extra-regional actors, including the United States, to exploit Iraqi territory to jeopardize Iran.

Baqaei commended the positive cooperation between Iran and Iraq and expressed optimism about its continued growth, grounded in the security memorandum signed several years ago. He also noted that invitations for visits by Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf have been extended, with plans for these trips to occur at an appropriate time.

Additionally, Baqaei referenced recent visits by Iran's Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade Mohammad Atabak and Minister of Interior Eskandar Momeni to Pakistan, focusing on discussions related to their respective areas. He underscored the importance of Iran-Pakistan relations, which have gained heightened significance in recent months. Regular exchanges, he noted, are a testament to the robust ties between the neighboring countries.
