Tehran Views Talks With Washington Positively But Cautiously: Iran Envoy

Tehran: Iran is approaching negotiations with the United States with a positive yet cautious outlook, according to Iran's Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al Sadegh. Speaking to Iraqi News Agency (inq.iq), Al Sadegh said Tehran is ready for dialogue but will engage with open eyes, full vigilance, and caution, stressing preparedness for all possible scenarios.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the ambassador reiterated that Iran has formally declared its readiness to negotiate, while emphasizing that caution would guide its approach. Indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States were held on February 6, 2026, in Muscat, mediated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi. Delegations exchanged views and proposals through the Omani mediator.

Separately, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmaiel Baqaei, said Tehran entered the talks with a results-oriented mindset, stressing the urgency of lifting unjust sanctions. He added that the timeline of negotiations remains uncertain and depends on the other side's approach.

Baqaei also warned that Iran would respond decisively to any military aggression, including actions involving the Israeli regime, which he said could not occur without US coordination.
