Turkmenistan Seeks Expansion of Relations with Iran Through Border Cooperation: Ambassador to Tehran

Tehran: Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Iran, Ylyas Gayypov, emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations with Iran, focusing on cooperation between border provinces. Gayypov highlighted this initiative while speaking at the National Conference on Investment Opportunities in North Khorasan Province, which shares a border with Turkmenistan.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Gayypov remarked on the significance of investment as a driver of economic growth for nations and referred to the strengthening ties between Iran and Turkmenistan in recent years. He stated that efforts are being made to expand relations by reaching memoranda of understanding with adjacent provinces, which could lead to new investment opportunities and enhanced economic cooperation.

The ambassador further explained that the conference in North Khorasan Province is instrumental in identifying existing potentials, domestic products, and investment opportunities, thereby opening new avenues for economic cooperation. The event was held in Bojnourd, the capital of North Khorasan Province, and was attended by Ja’afar Qaempanah, Iran’s Vice President for Executive Affairs. During the conference, approximately 240 investment opportunities were unveiled.
