Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that unity and coordination among Islamic countries are crucial in countering the hostile plots of the Israeli regime, which he described as being inherently linked to crimes and bloodshed. This statement was made during a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Turkey’s support and solidarity with the Iranian people and government.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian criticized Israel for its disregard for human rights and international law, highlighting its history of assassinating civilians, scientists, officials, and military personnel. He pointed out that recent Israeli attacks on Iran coincided with nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, suggesting an attempt by Israel to sabotage these negotiations.
Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s commitment to peace and dialogue, emphasizing the country’s efforts to strengthen ties with neighboring and Islamic countries. He recalled the assassination of Ismaeil Haniyeh, an official guest of Iran, as an example of Israel’s attempts to derail these efforts from the outset.
The Iranian President underscored the importance of Islamic cooperation in defending against Israeli aggression, calling for Islamic countries to enhance their defensive capabilities and collaborate to ensure peace and development in the region.
During the conversation, President Erdogan condemned the Israeli attacks, expressed condolences for the Iranian casualties, and accused Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu of attempting to incite conflict in the region. Erdogan also noted that the attacks aimed to divert attention from crimes in Gaza, reaffirming Turkey’s support for a diplomatic resolution to Iran’s nuclear issue.
