Tehran: A senior Yemeni official has announced that Yemen's armed forces are carrying out new military drills in the Red Sea in preparation for a potential confrontation with Israel and the United States. The drills are part of efforts to bolster military readiness in the face of possible aggression.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, stated on his X account that the exercises are aimed at countering potential threats from Israel and the US. He emphasized the importance of these drills in preparing for the next stage of confrontation and breaking the blockade imposed on Yemen by Saudi Arabia.

In response to Saudi Arabia's blockade and the closure of Sana'a airport, Yemen announced a naval blockade against Riyadh in late July. This move was in line with Yemen's strategy of 'blockade for blockade,' reflecting the ongoing tensions and geopolitical complexities in the region.
