Exclusive | Government Spokesperson Urges Political Unity Amid Prospects of Iran-US Understanding

Tehran: Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani has called on political factions to avoid undermining national interests through partisan disputes, saying internal divisions would send a message of weakness to adversaries as Tehran and Washington move toward a possible understanding.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohajerani, in an exclusive interview, stated that criticism of Iran's senior negotiators by certain groups amounted to an attack on a national decision rather than on individuals or a particular political camp. She emphasized that any decision taken at the country's foreign policy level is a systemic one, deriving from conclusions reached by responsible institutions.

Mohajerani defended senior Iranian negotiators, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, highlighting their longstanding dedication to defending Iran's national interests. She articulated that diplomacy should be seen as a continuation of the battlefield, where negotiating from a position of strength translates into tangible benefits for the public.

She called upon all political groups to prioritize national interests over political competition. While acknowledging that criticism is legitimate, she warned that weakening negotiators and projecting divisions externally would not serve Iran's interests.

Mohajerani further remarked on the recent war, underscoring that Iran's greatest asset is national unity and cohesion. She noted that adversaries faltered when faced with the unity of the Iranian people, armed forces, government, and political groups. She concluded by stating that no war is permanent and that the art of governance lies in consolidating battlefield achievements through diplomacy, ultimately benefiting the people.
