Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that Tehran currently has no intention of engaging in talks with Washington, citing a lack of basis for such dialogue. In a recent interview, Araghchi addressed multiple topics, including the situation in Syria, the ongoing Gaza conflict, Iran's nuclear negotiations with Europe, and potential dialogue with the United States. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi revealed plans to visit Russia to discuss developments in Syria. He emphasized Iran's extensive preparations aimed at calming the situation in Syria and creating an opportunity for an initiative that could lead to a permanent resolution. Araghchi mentioned Iran's consistent efforts in seeking consultation and dialogue with Turkiye to address their differences, highlighting the growing activities of terrorist groups in Syria as a significant concern for neighboring countries like Iraq, Jordan, and Turkiye. Regarding the restoration of Syrian-Turkish relations, Araghchi pointed out that the Syrian government's demand for the withdrawal of Turkish forces from its territory is a logical prerequisite for any meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He also noted that Iran would consider sending troops to Syria if requested by the Syrian government. Araghchi clarified that while Iran does not have command or organizational ties with resistance groups in Arab countries, it supports their cause and provides assistance when necessary. In regard to Iran-Saudi Arabia relations, he stated that their ties are developing positively and are separate from the ongoing issues between Iran and the United States. On the topic of Iranian nuclear negotiations, Araghchi expressed pessimism about the discussions with Europe. He reiterated that Iran currently has no plans to engage in talks with the US, as there is no foundation for such dialogue. Iran is waiting to observe the policies of the new US administration before determining its own course of action.
