Tehran: The United States is purportedly preparing to use the pretense of preserving global energy market stability as its next justification for potential military action against Iran, according to a statement by Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei expressed these concerns through a post on his X account, highlighting renewed threats from US President Donald Trump regarding military action linked to navigation restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. Recent disruptions in this critical waterway have caused global energy prices to soar, further intensifying tensions.
Baghaei criticized what he described as a "grand lie" by the United States, which he claims is being employed to rationalize an illegal "war of choice." He accused the US and Israel of instigating instability in global energy markets through their aggressive actions against Iran. The spokesperson argued that the US's warmongering tactics have undermined diplomatic efforts and deliberately injected insecurity into vital energy routes.
Baghaei further elaborated on this strategy, stating that the US and its allies manufacture crises and initiate wars, only to escalate them under the guise of "restoring stability" and "defending peace." He concluded his remarks by quoting Tacitus, suggesting that the US's actions create devastation while labeling it as peace.
Since early March, Iran has imposed restrictions on movement in the Strait of Hormuz as part of its self-defense measures against the US-Israeli aggression that commenced on February 28. Despite these restrictions, Iran has allowed ships from select countries to pass through this strategic waterway, which is crucial for the transit of 20% of the world's oil and gas products.
