Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan have discussed West Asia issues and the ongoing diplomatic developments to ease tensions in that region. Araghchi and Fidan held a phone conversation on Sunday night, according to a press release by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson's official Telegram page. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the phone call took place amid escalating tensions over Washington's threats of renewed military action against Iran over its peaceful nuclear energy program and the restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. These restrictions were implemented by Iran in early March as part of its self-defense measures, responding to the war of aggression that the US and the Israeli regime launched on February 28. The conversation between the two foreign ministers highlights the significance of diplomatic dialogues in navigating the complex geopolitical landscape of West Asia. Both countries have emphasized the importance of maintaining regional stability and exploring pathways to de-escalate conflicts, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges posed by international tensions.
