Iran and India Sign Memoranda on Customs and Pharmaceuticals

New Delhi: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar signed two memoranda of understanding at the conclusion of the 20th Iran-India Joint Commission Meeting held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the agreements encompass a memorandum of understanding on customs cooperation and another concerning regulations related to pharmaceutical products. Additionally, the two ministers signed the minutes of the joint commission meeting. Araqchi highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Iran and India, underscoring mutual respect and shared interests as the foundation of their ties.

Araqchi remarked on the economic relations between the two countries, noting that while there is good economic cooperation, the level of exchanges falls short of expectations. He identified sanctions as significant obstacles to expanding economic collaboration and expressed hope for resolving these issues in the future.

Leading a diplomatic delegation, Araqchi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to engage in discussions with senior Indian officials on mutual interests and regional and international developments.
