Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Islamic Republic is advocating for a fair and balanced deal concerning its nuclear program. During an interview with The Economist on November 19, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s willingness to engage in negotiations, although he expressed skepticism about past dealings with the United States. “We don’t have a single good experience with negotiating with the United States,” he remarked, underlining Iran’s stance on negotiation over dictation.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi highlighted Iran’s position on nuclear enrichment and weapons, asserting, “Zero enrichment is impossible, but zero nuclear weapons is possible.” He also noted the challenges posed by the recent reimposition of United Nations sanctions, which have complicated efforts to collaborate with Western powers.
When questioned about Iran’s preparedness for potential Israeli attacks, Araghchi assured that the country is “even more prepared than in the previous war.” He pointed out improvements in Iran’s missile capabilities, both in terms of quantity and quality. Araghchi concluded, “The best way to prevent a war is to be prepared for that. And we are fully prepared.”
