Tehran: The Foreign Ministry spokesman has warned that Islamic holy sites must not be politicized and used as a tool to incite sedition and escalate regional tensions.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Esmaeil Baqaei wrote in a post in Arabic on his X account that any aggression against Islamic holy sites, especially Mecca, Medina, and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as threats to their pilgrims and residents, is condemned. He emphasized that the mere claim of intercepting a drone en route to Mecca cannot constitute a basis for accusing a specific party, particularly since the Government of Change and Construction in Yemen has explicitly denied this claim.

The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses the necessity of preventing the politicization and securitization of the issue of Islamic holy sites and of not using it as a tool to incite sedition and escalate regional tensions. Baqaei noted that the region has witnessed numerous cases of 'false flag' operations, especially in recent months, aimed at diverting public opinion from actions by the Zionist regime and the United States, intending to sow discord among Islamic countries.

He also urged regional nations to exercise caution and vigilance in dealing with these sensitive issues.
