Muscat: Foreign Minister of Oman, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, expressed that he engaged in a fruitful conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, during Araghchi's day-long visit to Muscat. This visit marked a segment of Araghchi's three-nation regional tour.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Al-Busaidi stated that his discussions with Araghchi were constructive, focusing on bilateral cooperation and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. The Omani Foreign Minister highlighted the shared responsibility of Oman and Iran towards the international community, given their geographical locations along the coast.
During his visit, Araghchi also met with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. The discussions centered around bilateral relations and current regional developments. Araghchi acknowledged Oman's responsible approach to diplomatic processes and its stance on the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. He reiterated Iran's commitment to maintaining and strengthening friendly relations with Oman and other countries in the southern Persian Gulf.
Araghchi warned of the insecurity and division resulting from the US military presence in the region, advocating for a constructive approach to establishing collective security mechanisms free from US influence. The talks also covered the safety and security of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Sea of Oman, as well as developments in the Pakistan-mediated efforts to end the conflict.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq conveyed his condolences to Iran over the loss of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and others during US and Zionist military actions. He also extended his greetings to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, reaffirming Oman's commitment to regional peace and stability and expressing hope for a swift resolution to the conflict.
