Sweden Seeks Closer Trade Ties with Iran’s Private Sector: Ambassador

Tehran: Sweden's Ambassador to Iran, Mathias Otterstedt, emphasized the potential to overcome trade obstacles between the two nations, expressing a desire to establish new connections with Iran's private sector. Otterstedt's remarks followed a meeting with Samad Hassanzadeh, the Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), in Tehran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Otterstedt identified numerous areas for potential cooperation, particularly in heavy vehicles, energy generation, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, steel, and mining sectors. He acknowledged the challenges posed by monetary and banking transactions and expressed optimism that negotiations with the United States might lead to sanctions relief, facilitating renewed bilateral cooperation.

Hassanzadeh welcomed the prospect of utilizing Sweden's infrastructure technologies, noting past successful joint ventures in Iran's automotive and industrial sectors. He extended an invitation to Sweden to revive joint investment projects in Iran's automotive and electricity industries, highlighting opportunities in non-sanctioned sectors with guarantees from the Iranian administration.

Hassanzadeh also underscored Iran's capacities across various fields, including petrochemicals, refinery products, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food and dried fruits, handicrafts, and carpets. He noted the significant opportunities for expanding economic relations between the two countries in these sectors.
