Tunis: A symbolic funeral procession for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was held in Tunisia by citizens who were unable to attend the official funeral ceremonies in Iran and Iraq.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the event brought together members of the public, representatives of political movements and parties, and Tunisian intellectuals, who commemorated the memory of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Salah al-Masri, coordinator of the Tasamuh Movement in Tunisia, said the trust that the martyred Imam carried throughout his life was the trust of defending the oppressed and liberating Palestine and al-Quds.
Stressing that confronting oppression is one of Islam's fundamental principles, al-Masri called for unity among Arab and Islamic countries, describing it as the only path to victory.
The greatness of the Islamic Ummah, he argued, lies in the fact that its leaders become martyrs, while they, their children, and their grandchildren stand on the front line confronting the American and Zionist enemy, thereby drawing the lines of unity.
The ceremony concluded with chants in support of Palestine and against what participants described as the oppressive and divisive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime.
Ayatollah Khamenei and several members of his family were martyred in a US-Israeli attack while Tehran was engaged in serious negotiations with Washington. Funeral and burial ceremonies were held from July 4 to 9.
