Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly protested the unlawful detention of Iranian citizens by Kuwait, stressing that Tehran reserves its right to a response. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi, in a statement posted on social media platform X late on Wednesday, said that Kuwait has unlawfully attacked an Iranian boat and detained four Iranian citizens in the Persian Gulf in a clear attempt to sow discord. "This illegal act took place near an island used by the U.S. to attack Iran," he said. Araghchi further emphasized, "We demand the immediate release of our nationals and reserve the right to respond," highlighting the gravity of the situation as perceived by Tehran. Earlier, the Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran rejected the baseless allegations raised by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior regarding Iran planning hostile actions against Kuwait.
