Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has emphasized that Iran's interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will persist in accordance with the established procedures, as well as the regulations set forth by the country's Parliament (Majlis) and the decisions made by the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in an exclusive interview on Monday, Baqaei responded to the claim made by US Vice President JD Vance that Iran has agreed to invite International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors. He clarified that Iran's interactions with the Agency will continue under the existing protocols in compliance with Iran's obligations under the Safeguards Agreements, adhering to the laws enacted by the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the decisions of the SNSC.
Informed sources familiar with the discussions from the recent talks in Switzerland on Saturday mentioned that Tehran did not engage in any discussions regarding the nuclear issue during the 18-hour negotiation process and did not agree to any new commitments. The initiation of nuclear negotiations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which aims to resolve the conflict between Iran and the United States, is contingent on the implementation of Paragraph 13 of the memorandum.
